We are a small crew of guides and trip planners based in Nakuru, in the heart of Kenya’s Rift Valley. “Pisgah” is simply the name of a ridge you climb to take in a whole valley at once — which is exactly how we think about travel. Where is Pisgah Trails Xplorers based?
We are based in Nakuru, in Kenya's Rift Valley. That puts Lake Nakuru National Park, Menengai Crater, Lake Bogoria, Lake Baringo and Hell's Gate all within easy reach for day trips and short tours, and we run longer safaris from there to the Maasai Mara, Mount Kenya, Samburu and the coast.
How much does a safari from Nakuru cost?
Trips close to home start at around KES 4,500 per person for the Menengai Crater hike and KES 18,500 for a two-day Lake Nakuru safari. Longer trips such as the Maasai Mara start at KES 55,000. Prices include park fees, transport in a private 4x4 and your guide, with accommodation included on overnight trips.
How do I book a trip?

When is the best time to visit Lake Nakuru and the Rift Valley lakes?
Lake Nakuru is good year-round for rhino and giraffe. Flamingo numbers depend on water levels and shift between Nakuru, Bogoria and Elementaita, so we check current conditions before every trip and tell you honestly where the birds actually are. The drier months of June to October and January to February give the easiest game viewing.
Do you run trips for people of all backgrounds and beliefs?
Yes. Our trips are open to everyone regardless of background, nationality or belief. The company name comes from Pisgah, a ridge you climb to take in a whole valley at once, which is simply how we think about travel.
Do you offer day trips as well as multi-day safaris?
Yes. The Menengai Crater rim hike is a half-day trip, and Lake Nakuru National Park can be done as a single long day from Nakuru town. Every route can be shortened or extended to fit the time you have.
